Mother's Lesson To 'Ungrateful' Daughter Goes Viral
A suburban mum thought she was surprising daughter with a new pencil case, but after a less-than-ideal response, it became a life lesson.
After going to three stores to track down the popular 'LOL' pencil box for her daughter Presleigh, Hayley Hassell thought her daughter would be "ecstatic".
But that was not how things turned out. Instead of being grateful, Presleigh threw the pencil box in the bin and stormed off to her bedroom, in Cantonment, Florida.
"She yelled 'that’s stupid, everyone in my class has that... I don’t want it anymore!'" Hassell said in a Facebook post.
Shocked at her daughter's reply, Hassell said in the post that has now gone viral, she turned the moment into a life lesson for her daughter.
"I have worked so hard to completely take care of financially on my own and make sure she always gets what she needs and then some," the hospitality worker said.
"BUT I thought I had always taught her to be grateful and know how lucky she was but apparently sis needed a small wake up call!!"

Hassell decided her daughter would have a new pencil case, in the form of a clear ziploc bag.
After seeing her new pencil case -- the ziploc bag -- Presleigh decided the LOL pencil box was "good enough", Hassell said.
"But it was too late for that," she said.
She explained to her daughter she was "not special" and Presleigh was made to retrieve the LOL pencil box from the box.
"I told her to get the LOL out of the trash and we would be finding a child to give it to tomorrow..one whose mommy and daddies don’t have money for any school supplies or someone who may not even have a mommy or daddy," Hassell said.
The mum said she would use the incident to teach her daughter to not take anything for granted and to be grateful for the things she has in her life.
"Maybe I over react sometimes but I would’ve done anything to have all the things she does as a child," Hassell ended the post with.
"I truly believe changing your perception & just being grateful can turn around any situation in life."
