Taxi Driver Saves Sleeping Passenger From Indecent Assault

Police are hunting for a man who allegedly indecently assaulted a woman before ripping the door off a taxi on the Gold Coast.

Police have released CCTV vision of a man they wish to talk to in relation to the alleged indecent assault and willful damage to a taxi.

Just before 4am on August 25, a woman, 20, was picked up by a taxi outside an establishment in Broadbeach.

An unknown man then approached the taxi and asked if they were heading in the direction of "Tallebudgera" before getting into the back seat.

During the drive south, the man reached forward to the woman in the front seat and allegedly indecently assaulted her as she slept.

The driver was unaware of the alleged assault taking place until he pulled up to the woman's address in Palm Beach.

The male passenger then tried to forcefully pull the woman from the taxi, Queensland Police said.

At this point, the driver tried to drive away from the passenger who had grabbed hold of the taxi's sliding door.

The door was ripped off its hinges and left on the street.
