Woman Sets Up GoFundMe After Date Called Her Fat
A bad date cost Jade Savage AU$167 -- now she wants it back because a man called her 'fat' after she spent hours getting ready and travelling.
Savage, from Leicester in England's Midlands region, got glammed up to meet a man she connected with online, spending time getting ready and travelling some three-and-a-half hours on a return trip -- but she was humiliated as soon as she walked out of the train station, with her date saying she had "put some weight on".
Now, after spending £93 on the date -- between taxi and train fares, and a consolatory wine after a bad experience -- the 28-year-old single mum has put together a crowdfunding campaign as a "joke".
"He said, ‘f**k me, you have put some weight on haven’t you?’ I was like, ‘No, you can’t say that'," Jade told The Sun newspaper of her date.
“It was clear he wanted to call the whole thing off but I still hoped we could have a nice time so we went to his car. But he said, ‘I can say it, it’s a fact. You have put weight on, so therefore I can joke about it'."
Jade said she called him a "prick" and then he went "berserk", taking her back to the train and leaving her there.
It was an abrupt and disappointing end to a long and already frustrating journey for the Leicester woman, who had taken a taxi to the train station, and then missed a bus she had already bought an AUD$21 ticket for. She was forced to shell out for another ticket, this time for a train, costing her $40 each way.
"My mates were laughing with me, saying, ‘You’ve paid £90 to go to Peterborough, be called fat and then get sent home.’ It was the worst and shortest date I’ve been on," Jade told The Sun.
She jokingly set up a crowdfunding page online, titled "Want my £90 back because my date called me fat", where she revealed that her date had blocked her on social media after first offering to pay her back for her trouble.
"He then offered to give me the £90 travel money back and blocked me when I said yeah," she claimed.
"Just want to make my £90 travel money back so i can buy wine and sticks of lard."
The happy ending to a disappointing story? As of Tuesday, she has made her money back.
